STORING TIPS!
We recommend these tips and tricks to maximize your storage experience and protect your belongings!
- Use plastic totes, ideally with a lid, instead of cardboard boxes. Avoid cardboard boxes! Cardboard naturally attracts and holds moisture.
- Label your storage containers! This makes it much easier to find things later.
- Use plastic tarps or plastic sheets! Avoid covering items and furniture with blankets and cloth sheets, like cardboard these attract moisture. We recommend covering all furniture with plastic.
- Elevate items off the floor. When possible, try to avoid placing items directly on the concrete floor. Concrete naturally holds moisture. We recommend laying down a plastic tarp or plastic sheet or using a pallet to keep items off the concrete floor.
- Leave room! Leave walking room down the center of the storage unit. This makes it easier to get to items later.
- Stack! Stack heavy items on the bottom and light items on the top. Stack items as close to the ceiling as possible to maximize your space.
- DO NOT STORE: explosives; flammable, hazardous, or toxic materials; kerosene; gasoline; propane tanks; acid; narcotics; biological waste; radioactive equipment or supplies; fireworks, perishable items (plants, produce, meat, etc.); people or animals. Storing any of these items is strictly prohibited.
